Dr Kharat Rajesh joined South Asian Studies Division as Associate Professor in November 2008. He received his M. Phil and Ph. D. from South Asian Studies, SIS, JNU. Earlier he worked as Lecturer and Reader at Department of Civics and Politics, University of Mumbai since July 1991. His areas of interest include study of Himalayan states of South Asia (Bhutan and Nepal), and other contemporary issues like forced migration, terrorism and regional cooperation.
