Presently Prof. Lama is Vice Chancellor of the Sikkim University. He did his M.A. and Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He specializes in development economics and the economies of South Asia. He has extensively worked and published on issues related to cooperation and integration in South Asia. Last many years he has worked on migration and refugees in the region and was also invited by the UNHCR to contribute to its prestigious State of the World Refugees Report 2000.
