Meeta K MEHRA
PhD (ISI, Delhi), Professor

Meeta Keswani Mehra is Professor of Economics at the Centre for International Trade and Development (CITD), School of International Studies (SIS), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). She has held the position of the Chairperson of the Centre from December 2013-December 2015 and again from January 2018-January 2020. She has been a member of the Board of Studies (SIS, JNU) and Academic Council (JNU).

She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Economics from the Economics and Planning Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi Centre and joined JNU in 2004. At CITD in JNU she teaches growth theory, macroeconomics and open-economy macroeconomics to post-graduate and Ph.D. students. In the past she has also taught environmental economics and regulatory economics in CITD. Her research lies in the interface of environmental and climate economics, development macroeconomics, growth theory, open-economy macroeconomics, international trade, energy economics, politics of regulation and political business cycles. More recently, she has been involved with collaborative research on extreme climate impacts, climate vulnerability and adaptation, and heat stress and health implications. She has also been an Expert Reviewer for the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report.

She was awarded the DAAD funded fellowship to visit HTW-Berlin during June-July, 2010, the Chair Professorship on India Studies from the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, at the Institute of International Relations (IIR), Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv, Ukraine, May 2013, and the Rockefeller Bellagio Academic Residency during June-July 2013. She also received the Senior Scholar Mobility Grant by swissuniversities, Swissnex (Consulate of Switzerland, India) and K2A universities' network to visit the University of Zurich, Bern University of Applied Sciences, and ETH Zurich, Switzerland during April 2023.

She is on the faculty selection boards of several prestigious institutions and universities. She is a member of several professional bodies, namely, the Indian Society for Ecological Economics (INSEE), Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA), European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE), and Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AERE). She also served as a member of the Governing Council of the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, from January 2018-June 2020 and is currently serving as a member of the Working Board for Knowledge to Action (K2A) Network of Universities for South Asia under the CLOC program, funded by swissuniversities and Swissnex, Consulate of Switzerland, India.

She has successfully guided several M.Phil. and Ph.D. students and has published extensively in reputed peer-reviewed high ranked journals and books. She has been refereeing papers for many journals in Economics. She has also presented her research widely at international conferences and seminars.
