Area I - Research

Research in Area-I aims to develop our understanding of environmental processes and phenomena utilizing knowledge from disciplines of Physics, Mathematics and Data Science. Atmosphere is one of the major components of the environment having a significant bearing on other components, including the chemical and biological environment. Therefore current research efforts in Area-I are focused at studying different aspects related to atmospheric science such as aerosols and their characterization, aerosol-cloud-radiation physics, urban climate and air quality, climate dynamics, health risk assessments of air pollution, indoor air pollution, bio-aerosols, bio-acoustics and noise pollution etc., at the local, regional and global scale. Here, we use in-situ measurements, satellite-borne and ground-based remotely sensed data along with the state-of the-art modeling techniques to study the environmental processes/phenomena.
