Online applications are invited by the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) for one position reserved for other backward castes (OBC) of Assistant Professor in the Agricultural Economics Research Unit of the Institute in the scale of pay of Rs.15,600-39,100 GP: Rs.6,000 per month with the usual allowances admissible from time to time for the period up to March 31, 2020 on contract. The AER Unit of Institute with regular funding of Ministry of Agriculture exists since 1961. This funding is till March 2020. However, it is supposed to continue for subsequent period also.
Essential Qualifications
- Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in Economics/Agricultural Economics / Development Economics / Statistics / Public Policy and Governance from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
- Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
- Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (I) and (II) candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
- NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted
Persons with an M.Phil/Ph.D. with research experience and publications in the area of agricultural economics will be given preference. The candidate should have good skills in writing, computer use, and knowledge of statistical packages.
Only short-listed candidates will be called for interview. The Institute reserves the right not to fill the above position, if circumstances so warrant. The Institute can also consider suitable candidates who may not have applied. The decision of the Selection Committee shall be final. Canvassing in any form by the candidates will result in disqualification of the candidates.
