Call for Proposals under STARS Program of MHRD
The Schemes for Transformational and Advanced Research in Sciences (STARS) aims to promote translational, India–centric research in sciences. The key objective is to take stock of the existing problems and work backwards towards conducting research for a solution. It also seeks to promote interdisciplinary and translational research, which will help to orient science towards addressing needs and issues of the country in key sectors like health, agriculture, energy, environment, security, etc. STARS is launched by MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India) and will be implemented, monitored and managed by Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Several priority areas for socially relevant research have been identified under the following six basic thrust domains: Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Nanosciences, Data Science and Mathematics, and Earth Sciences. All Higher Educational institutions viz., the MHRD – funded technical institutes (IISc, IITs, IISERs, NITs) and Central Universities and Non-MHRD funded institutions with NIRF ranking within 100 or NAAC 3.26 and above (colleges or universities) will be eligible for applying for the project.
