Applications were invited for the following posts in a Neuro-cognitive Linguistics Project funded by Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, Netherlands entitled "The impact of literacy and numeracy acquisition on cognitive functioning in illiterate adults - A longitudinal approach" for a period of one year likely to be extended for one more year.
Brief Project Description
This innovative project is expected to yield important insights into how literacy and/or numeracy affects cognitive functioning. We will provide literacy training to a group of healthy illiterate adults living in the Delhi/NCR area of India. The participants will be tested on a large battery of linguistic and non-linguistic tasks before the onset of the literacy training, and immediately after the training. This will be followed by 6 months training in maths and numeracy and another round of testing the cognitive functioning.
The teachers /trainers for illiterate adults will be engaged for a period of one year.
1. Teacher/Trainer (Hindi): One Post
Essential Qualification: BA (B. Ed optional)
Desirable Qualification: Experience of Adult education/literary programs. Retired school teachers can also apply.
Remuneration: Rs. 30,000=00/pm (Consolidated)
2. Teacher Trainer (Mathematics): One Post
Essential Qualification: BA (B. Ed optional)
Desirable Qualification: Experience of teaching in Adult education /literary programs. Retired/school teachers can also apply.
