Documentation Unit

The Documentation Unit of the Centre has been acting as a hub for research scholars and the faculty members for the last five decades.

 

It has become a fully functional unit with the availability of staff providing necessary assistance to support teaching and learning activities of the Centre. It is referred by research scholars & faculty from various National and International Academic Institutions and NGOs. The statistical details of the users for the last two years are given below:

 

The Documentation Unit of the Centre is extremely rich in the resources relevant to the core issue of Public Health. Its house many rare books, journal articles and other reading materials on development, environment, gender, urban issues, nutrition, reproductive health, population, epidemiology, biostatistics, health services and health systems, public policy, public/health administration. The reading material listed in each course is available in original as well as copies to facilitate easy access to the users. A wide range of users from the within and outside the university use the resources here as evident from Table 4.

Resource Material Details
The Unit has grown into a specialised collection of documents procured through purchase or as gifted donations by the faculty members from time to time for reference over the years. The collection housed in the Documentation Unit comprises of books, journals, official reports, monographs, articles, PhD theses, MPhil dissertations and MPH district field reports (Table 5). We also have a soft copy of the article on communicable diseases send by ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre, Bhubneswar.

 

We record our appreciation to Dr. Alpana Sagar and Dr. Imrana Qadeer for gifting valuable books and materials from their personal collections.  The books are purchased from the capacity building funds of individual faculty members and the projects undertaken by the faculty members from ESRC, Wellcome Trust, ICMR, ICSSR, NCW, SICI and UGC.
