A JRF position is available in a DBT funded project of Dr. S. S. Maitra , associate professor , School of Biotechnology , JNU with possibility of training in IIT Guwahati . The area of research is in metagenomics and bio-process development.
Key skills required:
(1) Ability to isolate total DNA from soil or other environmental samples.
(2) PCR.
(3) Ability to isolate pure cultures from complex microbial consortia.
Some knowledge of Bio-informatics and phylogenetic analysis will be also required . The candidate may have to travel to unpleasant sites like Municipal Solid Waste dumps or to distant places in North East to collect soil samples.
Remuneration: Rs. 25000/ + Rs. 7500/ per month. Project will be valid till 29/09/2021
Qualifications: M.Sc. in Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology or M. Tech. in. Biotechnology with NET/GATE/ BET ( category –II) qualified.

The above mentioned position is completely temporary and is co-terminus with the project. Appointed person will be expected to stay in the laboratory for the entire period of the project. Apply within 20th December 2018. No TA/DA shall be paid for appearing in the interview.
